I have a 1998 Yahama 40 HP 2 stroke tiller controlled outboard.
It has been running flawlessly until this year. It used to start always on the first or second try when I turn the key for the electric start. Now it takes up to 10 ten times to start it and keep going. It will start for a brief time after 3 or 4 trys but then dies. It does this over and over again.
Battery and gas are good.
Wondering if it is a choke issue. This version has an automaticc choke and all you do is turn the ignition key to start.
Hurting the fishing time.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Work Release
