yam 225 prop/driveshaft question

I'm new to the forums. I have an 05 yam225 4stroke. Was out running old gas out of it and hit something submerged in the lake. Probably a log, but it didn't seem detrimental. Now I look at the prop spinning and it seems off center/wobbling a tiny bit. Maybe 1-2 millimeters at the end of the prop hub. The question is if I don't motice vibrations is it OK to keep running it? Could it be a bent shaft? How can I tell if it's the prop shaft without pulling it? I have read many of your threads and am amazed at how much you guys do to help strangers. I grew up that way but don't see it many other places. THanks

Hmm...hopefully and probably just dinged prop a little, you can run engine till warm(lower's idle a bit, don't do this over 700 RPM to avoid damage) and this isn't something I would do ever again, but pull prop and start engine again, shaft should turn if engine is revved a little IN NEUTRAL, NOT IN GEAR...watch end of shaft from low and behind...if it doesn't spin in neutral, you can put it in gear, but DON'T REV without prop....this isn't good to do without prop on, but we won't make a habit of it....watch end of shaft. If it's like I think you should have prop balanced(very cheap to do) as any wobble on prop can cause premature bearing/seal problems.

Thanks, I'll get to it as soon as I can. Appreciate you suggestion. I suppose that when it spins in neutral there should be zero wobble right? Any wobble means a bent shaft? Can a bent shaft be straightened? or just replaced?
Thanks again

For correct level? or water or metal shavings? Not seeing a connection between level of lube and shaft wobble.

Let's not worry about shaft yet, probably the prop, just check it and let us know....

Bent Shaft. Not too much, but it is out of allowable tolerance. Can be as much as 3/1000 out, but shows to be 27/1000 out. Replacement time. Thanks for all your suggestions and replies. Not too many people talking about straightening shafts. Ever heard of any success?

Like at a machine shop? Is it worth keeping the old one and getting a buddy to straighten it up?

Get a quote from your service dealer. Have them check shaft, prop and seals. Your insurance may cover it. I had my bent shaft and prop replaced for the $250 deductable and now everything is new.

Yep. It's conmsidered and accident by my Ins. Co. Insurance is going to cover it and the work will just be done with new replacement parts. Without Insurance, I'd probably get it straightnened and do it myslef. Since they're paying, a few bucks more isn't anything from my pocket.
