A friend has a 2 strokes V150 Yam OB, uses NGK B9HS-10 which is a colder plug. Can't find those mentioned spark plugs. locally. Now running NGK B8HS-10 ones. The operating temp difference between both is around 100C°. Will there be an issue if keeps using them. Will say that plugs will foul faster, but that won't happen as he likes cruising at speed between 3/4 to full throttle extensively most of the time. What are your thoughts about this spark plug situation ?

BTW which is the Champion plug equivalent to look for as a alternative to NGK ones ?

There are tons of them in USA, but this engine lives in another country where only imports NGK 7 & 8 ones...

Does anyone knows what's the alternative plug in Champion brand ?

According to sparkplug-crossreference dot com:

B9HS-10 = L77J4, L77JC4, L78C, L82C

B8HS-10 = L78C, L82C

Thanks,

Find the Champion spark plug crossreference to be quite confusing, to clarify....

NGK B7HS = Champion L82C

NGK B8HS = Champion L78C

Don't know which NGK spark plug will make a perfect heat range match with L77J4, L77JC4 ones ?

NGK B9HS plugs used on this Yam HP model motor with Champion L82C nor L78C won't work top, both are hotter plugs than B9HS ones which are colder. Exact factory heat range and tip height is a must dial when buying spark plugs if wanting any engine brand to work spot on.

Champion spark plug used on Yam, Tohatsu OB's, must be regapped to 1.0 mm as per factory specs as are being delivered with just 0.7 mm electrode gap.
