Yamaha 115 can remove thermostats?

Hi all, I have 1993 115 yamaha with a little overheating, can i remove thermostats and run without?

You can and if the thermostats are the problem, it may help. You need to trouble shoot the cause of overheating before you ruin the powerhead.

Has the impeller been changed to your knowledge? Yamaha impellers are kinda flimsy compared to some. After a few too many years of service, the blades will break off and make you look for them.

Impeller was changed 2005, however my question was only to ask if powerhead too cold without termostats can be damaged...(water temp 15 degrees Celsius)

It may prove to be a little cranky until it warms up. It should not damage it.

put t-stats back in, it will run better
