Yamaha 115 ETXJ stalls on idle

I have been having a problem this year with this OB. Engine will idle for a while and then for no reason it coughs sputters and quits. Almost sounds like a backfire then it tries to run backfires agian and quits. Not much fun around the dock. I had the carbs done this year thinking that might cure it but no luck. Otherwise runs GREAT!

Does it sound more like a sneeze? If so sometimes the pilot jets need adjustment. I would just maybe turn them out a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn at a time till it clears...do this with a warm engine.<br /><br />Hope this helps.

Exactly like a sneeze! Pilot jets are on the top or bottom carb?

they are on the sides, but near the top...they are a slotted screw...

That was the answer! I rolled the screws out 1 full turn and now I can troll down all day with no stall. Thanks very much.
