I just purchased a 1990 Yamaha V4 115 Precision Blend but it didn't come with the remote oil tank. On my boat I have a OMC remote oil tank that has a 2-wire with 2 connectors on the end circa 1990-1994 that ran on a 70hp Johnson. Is there a way to make this unit work with my Yamaha or am I stuck and have to buy a new one? I see a few new in the box on Ebay for $250-300usd, is this a good price? Are there any better prices out there? Is buying one of these used a good idea? Thanks for your time, its really appreciated!

Sell the one you got on ebay and then buy one used from ebay for tha yamaha. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with buying one used as there is really not much to the unit. That is one of the reasons that i think that 250-300 bucks is high. As for the unit you have now im not sure if it is compatible with your yamaha.

I don't think that your OMC oil tank will work with your Yamaha 115. The Yamaha tank has an oil pump built-in that is driven by the oil controller on the engine. Your 115 has a smaller oil reservoir on the engine that has oil level switches which activate the oil pump on the larger reservoir, filling the reservoir on the engine when the oil in the engine tank gets below a certain level. All of this is driven off of the electronic oil controller on the engine. Check the article below. It explains how the Yamaha "Precision Blend" oil system works. Also, get a Yamaha manual for your engine. It is about $50, and is worth it.

I've got a used Yamaha oil tank with pump for sale at a lower cost than what you can buy on E-bay. The tank is standard size, I believe 2 1/2 or 3 gallons. If interested, shoot me an email at: VPofAWH@aol.com Dave
