rodbolt, if you're out there. When chokes are closed there is about .030 play which seems ok to me. The upper two choke plates have 3mm holes. The lower have 12mm holes. Can I close the lower holes with washers and a screw with nylon lock nuts or do you have a better way to block them. thanks.
Thank you, thank you rodbolt. Plugged the holes in lower carb choke plates and now engine starts very quickly. Makes you wonder why they put such large holes in the first place. Again, thank you.
they only did it 2 years, the T model run was one of them. I owned one and had the same issues. had someone caught it by 97 or so yamaha was replacing the carbs for free.
just make sure your plug cannot come out and enter the reed cage or worse.
I also use two pieces of retangle 040. aluminum. I sandwiched a stainless washer in the carb plate holes to minimize movement and used a nylon nut to hopefully prevent loosening. I'll check it occasionally. It is a sicking though for those pieces to get inside the engine.
