Yamaha 115 V4 Buyers Guide

Hi all. I have an opportunity to buy a 1994 115. What specific things would you look for in a high hours engine. I will do compression and lower leg check. Also spark check.

Anything specific to the engine to look out for??

A 22 year old outboard is a "pig in a poke" at best.....a compression test for each cylinder would be very good.....and for me, a sea trial including starting, idle, mid-range and wide open throttle of about 5500 RPM's would be necessary. It can tell you a lot!...

Lol its way newer than the 1975 Chrysler it will be replacing

I had a 115 like that on a Checkmate boat for several years....ran the hound out of it and never had a problem...
