Hello

I am the lucky owner of a 115hk yamaha v4 1999 model, varmed up she runs like a bie in the summer.

The challenge begins starting her cold, this is somehow my firing procedure ;

pull out manuel choke
Turn on key leave it in oil filling position for about 10sek
then klamp the starter, and it runs and runs there is no firing ..
then pull and press the choke , and fire again and again
and suddenly out of the blue she runs ...

This happens in cold and nearly cold enginee conditions, when shes varm, one flikk of the switch and she runs.

-----

I`ve tryed changing spark plugs

------

I`ve been told if there is a hole in the fuel pump diagramph this condition i have might occur, so i bought a new but have not changed it yet.

------

Please kick me in the right direction, the dive season is on here in norway, and i need to get my boat on the water.

Hi Erik,
Do you pump the primer ball till it's firm before starting the engine?

Re: yamaha 115hk v4 starting problems

this is a non US market motor so I am going out on a limb and comparing it to the 115,130 and 140 motors in south america.
its a non-prime start engine. means the choke MUST be held while cranking and the warm-up lever pulled so the engine can start between 1200 and 1800 RPM.
other than that some of the US market motors in the 94-95 range had to large of an air hole on the choke shutter butterflies.
can be fixed if nessasary but I would wish to see a pic of the butterflies closed.
on that engine if the choke isnt engaged while cranking it does nothing.
