I have a Yamaha ETXJ 200 1986 outboard. I have just sync the carburators at a Yamaha dealer. The carbs has been cleaned and new carb kit has been installed.
I did a test run after the service and the engine run very good.

After two weeks I used the boat again and after 10 minutes the engine stopped at 3000rpm.
I tried to start the engine again but is totally dead like the killer is actived.

I have checked the spark plugs they where wet but gives good spark on all cylinders.

Any inputs what can be wrong all comments are welcome.

If you have good compression and spark on all cylinders, then look at the fuel system.
Pump , lines, filters, tank, and carbs.

Hook up a pressure/vacuum gauge to the lines to see if you are getting anything. The primer should get fuel into the carbs so if it will not fire at all, then it may be flooding out or full of water.

You did mean that it was turning over but not firing.

Re: Yamaha 200hp ETXJ 1986 Starting problem

New update.

Today I replaced all fuel, tank, carbs and filters. After filled new fuel, checked sparks which I get a good spark on all cylinders. Engine turn but no firing. I tried with start spray still no firing when the engine turn.

Is it possible that the spark timing has changed when I run at 3000rpm? I think it is strange due to I have just sync the carbs at a Yamaha dealer.

Any new comments,

if you have good spark, good compression it has to be fuel.
only way the timing can jump is to have sheared a flywheel key, easily checked.

Latest update from my Yamaha dealer work shop. Due to I did all with the fuel without sucess I sent my engine to the work shop.

It was the flywheel who was loose. How it become loose I dont know.
