Yamaha 225 Excel (1987) Oil Buzzer Problem

My otherwise impeccably well running well maintained motor started buzzing at the helm. Instrument panel demonstrated that the oil light was red. Checked oil levels on the engine and main reservoir and both were full. At slow (no wake) speeds I had no problem. Anything over 3000 RPM's buzzer would go off every 1/2 mile or so. Any advice would be REALLY appreciated.
Thanks
Charlie G "Band-Aid"

hello
dude when was the last time you changed the oil filter in the remote tank? sounds like it is partially stopped up and not allowing oil to transfer as fast as it is being used at planing speeds.
good luck and keep posting
PS doesnt sound like the filter has been serviced. who in VA beach has been servicing it? just curious.

I appreciate your reply. What's involved in servicing the filter. Something I can do easily? In the past Chris from Shore Drive Marine has helped me out though not without usually having to write a fat check. I'm going to take a look in the am if weather permits. Not many days left to the Rockfish bite. Have had to take the boat down to your neck of the woods and it was a bummer having that buzzer go off on the way home at dusk. Again, I really appreciate your advice.
Charlie G

cool
the filter is on the bottom of the remote hull mounted tank. you have to up end the tank and cut off the tie straps. make sure you replace the filter with the arrow going in the right direction. that would not be chris roble would it ? if it is tell him tom down here in kitty hawk says Hi. I worked with chris and his dad for a long time.

good luck and keep posting.
