For those who read my previous post, I had the boat and motors checked out.

Here is the info

Port: PL225TXRN 1-130 2-135
3-135 4-135
5-130 6-125 Good & smooth idle and shifting

Stbd.: S225TXRW 1-0 2-0
3-175 4-15
5-175 6-125 Rough idle and good shifting

Both motors have good water flow, good temperature and accept throttle well.

I am not sure of the year of the motors, but they are OX66 and fuel injected. I posted the motor #'s with the hope somone can date them for me.

Talk to me guys, I know everyone has and opinion? What are my best and worst case senarios?

Thank you!

Re: Yamaha 225 motor issues

Thank you for the info rodbolt ! I just double checked the survey and that's what he wrote on the paperwork. I will check with him tomorrow.

On the blown motor, can these usually be rebuilt and perform well?? What do you think a rebuild would cost?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Yamaha 225 motor issues

depends on the amount of saltwater corrosion in the cooling system passages, the amount of damage and the guy boring/prepping the block and the monkey assembling it.
done correctly its as good as new.
not done correctly and you have 3000 dollars worth of junk.
