Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

I remember when the OMC 300 came out but wasn't it 2 stroke?

It didn't last long and don't know why. Maybe the boat mfgrs didn't get their act together and there weren't enough transoms strong enough to support it. Seems they're in tune nowadays so there apparently is a great market for large engines.

Hey Dee, in that yammie HPDI film on youtube, I assumed that was your wife's boat..........I thought I saw something in the rooster tail.....like someone trying to waterski? Was that you or was I just imagining things? Grin

May not have been but could have been an inflatable trying to pass. LOL

How's winter down under?

Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

Thanx hitace ... looking forward to it, yes the V8 from J/E was a 2-stroke, I have the exact same one DINGBAT shows here, exact same one but mine must have been worked and warmed up even more, cause mine puts out 475hp at 10 000 rpm .... just interested to see what hitace's one looks like ....

hahaha hey mark ... no it's not my wife's boat hahahaha but that is how she drives it .... she is crazy that one ..... I will definately not let her pull me on a ski or even try to pass her on my inflatable haha she will ride over me, she is very competative .... you should see her play foozball (that hand soccer game) crazy ... hahaha ....

winter is coming to an end now and spring is around the corner can't wait cause the racing season is starting in October, then fun times begin again .....

Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

All I know is that my uncle when travelling overseas in the US came across this motor from an ex racer and then bought it and shipped it to South Africa, then I got it and my mech tested the motor in tank on dino ...... we pushed it to 10 000 rpm and pushed out 474,3 hp we actually could push it more but the v8 makes such a noise allready we didn't want it to pop ..... the motor is totally illegal ..... no serial anywhere ..... only top racing parts the motor looks like it only consist of carbs, spark plug leads a starter and a block ... that is it ..... but it runs and it is mean ..... the low water pickup makes it look vicious with a funny looking prop ......

Dee, not getting into your marital affairs man, but for a guy with your guts and all, if you didn't have a lady sharing your bed with the same mind I'd be really surprised.

Looks like you chose well and have a challenger..................grin. Hope you can run faster than she can dish it out. LOL

BTW she can run faster than I can hahahahaha .....

Re: Yamaha 350 horse outboard

my cam broke but as soon as i can get a new one i will be sure to take all the pics you want

Your cam broke? In a 2 stroke V-8? Wow post a photo of the broken 2 stroke cam!

The Yamaha 350 sounds interesting and it fills a gap in the market. I am not too sure I like the "economy" fuel numbers...... would rather go with a set of twins.
