Anyone have experience with the 115 Yamaha 4-stroke ...How does it compare to the Honda?. I'm looking for an Engine for commercial use so I need something that can Handle serious hours and is easy to maintain.

Re: Yamaha 4 stroke vs Honda

Scupbarron: I bought a 115 HP Yamaha 4 Stroke
one year ago. I used it this past year on
several lakes, fishing off the Outer Banks
and as a dive boat for a week in the Keys.
I have had no problems whatsoever. It is
quiet, produces almost no noticable exhaust and best of all is VERY efficient in gas usage - better than I expected.

I'm the kind of person who flushes an engine
with fresh water after each day in salt water becaue I hope to keep it a long,
long time. - OBXboater

Re: Yamaha 4 stroke vs Honda

:D Thanks for info. I replaced my 1999 150hp 2-stroke Johnson with the Yamaha f115 ....engine is still in crate though. After 25 years, it's the First non-OMC outboard Ive owned(there was a brief stint inbetween with Merc junk...engine was toast in 1000hrs). My 150 ran perfect after 2800 hours but yearly fuel bill was between 3000-4000 dollars ..hope to cut that in half if not more. Power/speed wise to a 2 stroke, how does it compare? I got 32 kts outa the 150hp on a 22ft workboat ...which i never needed ...I have no need to go faster than 20kts, even then you need relatively flat seas for that. On this same boat I also had a 90hp ...squeaked 20 kts out, but had to run it hard to achieve that.
