Yamaha 40 hp no power?

I just installed the 703 side controls for a 2006 40 hp Yamaha. I ran the wire harness and plugged it into the motor. Should the wire harness pretty much control all the power to the motor? I have no power, but the tilt does work from the control box. The battery has been charged also.

The control box also has approximatley 6 other wires coming from the control box that have black rubber plugs in them. What do I have to do to get power to the engine? Thank you

Well, I'm totally lost. We checked the wires in the control box and they all have power. The fuses seem to be ok. Any other suggestions?

What do you mean by 'the power'??? Are you saying the engine won't turn over? Do you have the battery wire(BIG wire) from battery to starter on motor? Did you buy the controls with the engine or used? What color wires do you want to know?

Ok, when I put the key into my brand new 703 control box, it doesn't do anything.(No Noise) When I turn the key there is nothing (No Noise, No Power), but I can tilt the motor from the control box. The wire harness is connected to motor, but there are additional wires that coming from the control box.

1. All Together: Yellow, Green, Red, and Black that have a plastic plug on the ends of them.

2. Two other wires I believe they were brown and something else.

Shouldn't the motor start with just the wire harness hooked to the motor?

I have a 2006 40 hp Yamaha outboard 4 stroke. I bought brand new 703 premium side controls from Yamaha seperate from the motor.
I think it has to be a bad fuse that we missed.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for the help.

Re: Yamaha 40 hp no power?

I found one fuse box on the left side of the motor that had a small 20 amp fuse that I think is for the tilt. That was fine. Is there any other fuses that might be blown? Thank you
