I have 92 Yamaha 2 stroke 50 hp. on a 16' Tracker Aluminum Bass Boat. The engine was running fine all summer till today. The problem has happened before My father said he cleaned the carbs and it would run ok for a while. After running on plane at about 90% power I slowed down to a no wake speed when I gave it gas again it stalled out. The tank vent was open and every thing was good for 2 hours before it happened. I was able to run at low speed 4to 6 mph. At times it seemed that I was able to give it gas to only have it stall again. The engine in Neutral runs fine take the rpm all the way up it is only in gear that it happens.
1. Runs great in neutral
2. Runs good at low speed
3. Stalls when giving it gas in gear

thanks

Carbs needs to be gone through and cleaned properly and you my have a Ethanol issue also put on a Yamaha 10 micron fuel filter setup on the engine.

Sounds like you have water in the fuel. Do you have a water seperator on the boat?

Also check your plugs and make sure they are all firing.

It is portable tank with new gas. I have been thru several tanks this season. I also found the nut missing from the filter in the motor causing the filter to rattle around. My father does have 2 filters one on the engine and one on the tank probably only needs one.

Check to see if your alarm system works and that it is not going into an alarm state. If not start checking for fuel problems.
