I am about to upgrade from the above, but some 60 HP motors weigh 112 KG & the 70 HP weighs 163KG. So I can compare apples with apples: What does the Yamaha weigh???

Re: Yamaha 50HP 4Stroke

Hi,
Not sure what You are asking for but the Yamaha F50 4-stroke weight 108 kg.
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/product...ear=2005&cat=Four+Stroke+Series&scat=Midrange

If You are going to upgrade from that, Yamaha F50, outboard to a Yamaha F60 the weight is the same. The jump up to their F75 is much more weight, 168 kg.
If You want a light, modern technology, 70 hp 2-stroke however have a look at Evinrude E-tech 75 hp since the weight is only 138 kg.
The lightest 70 hk 4-stroke is probably Suzuki DF70/Johnson 70 4-stroke, about 160 kg.

Re: Yamaha 50HP 4Stroke

Thanks Bo, I am looking to go for a bigger motor, but am concerned about additional weight on the transom. The boat is an early Quintrex 6m Ocean/River & the 50hp with fin, needs to be trimmed under to lift the stern for "level' running. The Mercury 60hp looks good at 112 Kg.
I know it will still be slightly under powered, but I am looking at $3,000 for repairs to the Yamaha (10 yrs old), so have decided to upgrade now. Unfortunately, I live on an Army disability pension so don't have the funds to go to the 80 hp rating of the boat.
It's interesting to look at the site you suggested. You get a 3 year warranty, they only give us 2 years here.

Oops, Forgot to mention the Yamaha 50 4S is 10 years old. Anyone know how much it weighs?
