Yamaha 60hp NO hole shot

1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.

I have no holeshot and the tach says i'm over revving. Top speed is great (30mph on GPS). Motor doesn't sound like it is over revving.

2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.

Solas Rubex 3 Blade Aluminum

3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).

13.25" dia. X 17" pitch SR

4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)

I bought a tinytach TT226R-2XLR. It is says that i'm turning 8500rpm at WOT.

5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP

Yamaha Pro60 2 stroke 1995 60hp

6) Boat make model, year, length and weight

Lund Angler 1700 1999 17.5'

Very good:
Probably should figure out why tach is so far off first.I believe on some applications you have to devide by 2.Perhaps you got a tach for a 4 stroke?
Sometimes wire will pick up stray pulses be careful how you route it.
Doesn't seem like it is exactly double counting.
I'm thinking your actual rpm is about 4800 to 5,000
Check with tiny tach.
Prop,I think you need a 15" prop.But don't make a change until you solve the tach.
Speed seems good.
Are you trimming in for hole shot?

Thanks for the reply. I will check the way i have the tach wire run when i get home. I doubled checked the model on the tinytech website. I think i have the right one.
Not sure i can put a bigger prop on my motor. There is only about a 1/2" clearance between the prop and the motor.

I agree divide by 2 sounds correct. Check the back of the tach, should be a little dip switch that will resolve that issue. When you say no hole shot are you saying it does not plane out or just super slow out of the hole. Most issues I see are that they do not plane out and that is resolved most often by a set of lower unit fins (hydrofoil) like dolefins or tigershark even bass proshop sells them for different hp motors. Hey man 30 from a 60 aint bad.

When I suggested a 15 that a 15" pitch 2 less than you are running.
Should improve hole shot and add about 400 rpm You may want to check that the throttle is opening all the way as well.

Sorry, i'm not sure what i'm doing yet . I checked the tinytach and the only thing on it is a reset button. I reran the wire away from the other electronics and will test it this weekend.

If i'm the only one in the boat it comes up on plane fairly decent. With me and a fishin' buddy it takes awhile (30 Sec). If there are 3 of us it sometimes won't get there.

We were all new to this and did not know what we were doing at one time. The reference to prop size is generally given in inch of pitch. Diameter is a function of the designers work and may vary about the exact size by 3/4 of an inch either way. Get a prop specified for your engine with the pitch you need and it will be the correct diameter, what ever that is.
I too would suspect that the 15" pitch prop should give you the quicker take off that you need with the boat loaded.
