I have a 2003 four stroke 90 HP Yamaha outboard on my 17.5 Hydrasport DC Vector. This motor replaced a 1990 Johnson 88 special. In the replacement I had a new Yamaha 703 controller added as well. I had the motor installed at the dealer. Unfortunately, I am not very happy with the wiring job. They left most of the gauges unwired and left a tangled mess of used and unused wiring throughout the boat.

What I would like to do is rewire the gauges and the like (I also want to take out the old key switch and kill switch both of which are still wired in "sort of" to the new controller in some as yet uncertain manner)The wires from the controller to the motor itself are fine. But there are three bundles of wires I can't find any reference for. One includes a yellow, a black, a red (or is it Pink?) wire and a green wire. The other two bundles create paired wires, one wire from each bundle forming a pair. Could one of these be for the overheat warning horn? I am getting no sound when I start the motor like I did with the old motor...or maybe that is OK.

I have searched the net ad nauseum and can't find any reference to the simple question of what wire serves what purpose? Until I know that I am not about to start messing with the wires. Anyone have anything to offer? At least help for the yellow, black, red (pink?), green bundle.
