Part I need is:
SELF LOCKING NUT #90185-09M01-00

Trying to find a replacement locally (today, hopefully) but I can't seem to find out what the thread size/pitch is is? Anyone know?

I've seen part # decoders, but it's not making sense to me with this part number.

Thanks for any help you can give!

if its the one i think you are looking for its 5/16 unf , i dont know why they went imperial on that bolt and the thread in the arm.
kind of a strange one because a 14mm ring fits the lock nut perfect, 9/16 is a bit sloppy.

If you can, measure the dia of the male thread with cailpers, then measure how many threads over a known length such as a half inch. Numerous thread charts online that could get you close. Find a local hdwe store and buy a few that you think might be right. Nuts are usually only 10 cents each or so. Once you have the correct thread, find a self locking nut with that thread !!
Now then....if your anything like me, I have numerous containers of screws and nuts so it would be like a treasure hunt to find a match. If you know anyone that is a machinist or toolmaker they might have a thread pitch gage you could borrow. Match the number of threads to one of the gages and use the OD to figure out which size thread.

Not sure about you guys, but I've walked into my local Ace Hardware with lots bigger parts than that in my hand to find the correct nut. I've actually taken off my shirt before an handed it to them to match a glob of paint on it because I forgot the name of the color. Snatch it off and take it with you to the hardware store.

Last Friday, I hit up 2 Yamaha dealers for the lock nut. Neither had it, so I ended up ordering the nut along with the lower cowl grommet, that I also needed. Unfortunately, they probably wont be in before I need them on Thursday...Both dealers said essentially the same thing, that is not really an off the shelf item from ACE, when I suggested going there to find something that will fit.

I did find a temporary solution until my stuff comes in...taking the lock nut off my buddies outboard that he's not using this year.

In the meantime, I took their ACE challenge...gotta say they were right. I am not 100% on the pitch, either 1.00 or 1.25 (leaning towards 1.00), but the bolt is an M9.

ACE, at least the one I went to, doesn't carry anything M9. What I found is M10-1.25 Jam nuts thread on and hold fairly well, M10-1.00 Jam nuts will slide on, no holding. However, a M10-1.00 nylock, goes on loose, but the nylon part will thread on.

I don't think either option is acceptable in the long run, but in a pinch - short term, they will probably work

Just an FYI...

Do you have a fastenal or other fastener store in your area, you mught have to buy a box but shouldn't be that expensive. Do a search, most areas have stores for fasteners that various companies need.

I already ordered the correct nut from a Yamaha dealer, and borrowed and installed the one off my buddies Yamaha to use in the meantime, so no point in going to Fastenal.
