when i rev my engine its staying high for a few seconds, rpms do not go down fast like other engines,,, poor idle,, cough ,, do you have to use the thermostats,, i removed them to correct a cooling problem,, solved that now do they need to go back in,,,, im in cold climate ,,,, sorry 3 questions, 200etlh.1987

I have told over and over by many mechanics do not run water cooled motors without the thermostats in place , even automotive ones. They control the motors temp and also causes a restriction that will circulate the water properly through out the motor the way it was designed. Without it in place there will be hot spots and cold spots, which will not let the motor burn fuel properly. Newer motors that are computer controlled will burn pistons when they will lean out too far.
Check your cables and linkage for binding and lubrication and install the thermostats.

thanks for getting back on this you are right,, im going to get them back in , i should have know better,,,, not sure if this is my only problem, but i will take your advise, david
