Yamaha 9.9 Year unknown??

Anyone know how to determine the year of the motor..? I have the model and serial number, and the owners manual, but nothing specific on the model year. I inherited this from father and I need to order a new water pump. There is no water coming out of the exit hole. It is clogged with mud and crud... It does start and run fine, but with no water coming out, I shut her down ASAP.<br /><br />Thanks
