For any of you who were involved in the disussions under by "is it damaged" saga, I wanted to let everyone know that, after a whole lot of time, I finally got a reasonable supervisor athte customer service center in GA named John. He took my matter to heart and got directly in touch with the dealer.

We put in new parts (under warranty they covered a new carb, and fuel pump and service), about $600.00 woth I figure.

Now I have tested the engine and it WORKS GREAT. I can also tell you that the fuel pump problem was present from the time I purchased the engine NEW.

We looked at the broken diaphram and it was only cracked on the shoulder, so it would pump at certains throttle settings and not other, then it pumped gas into the crankcase and everything went to hell.

As for the damage from the diluted gas, well I am taking on faith what John told me that these are robust engins and he did not think it was damaged. We agreed that by documenting it Yamaha will pay for a new block, if that is necessary in the future.

John also negotiated that the dealer return to me the hours I paid for the unnecessary carb cleaning, due to them mis diagnosing the problem.
This amounted to almost $400.00. So, am I happy with Yamaha, I believe so - it is a pleasure to use the engine again -(note I have only used it 3 hours, but it is so different that I love running it).

Now, after 36 months, I finally feel like I do in fact have the best kicker made.

We will wait and see on the block.

Thanks to everyone who helped me.

Also, the information about advancing the throttle, before starting to prime the accelerator pump, was so "spot on" I don't know why it isn't in the operating insturctions.

signing off for now

Gary N
