Hi! I have a 1999 Yamaha Exciter Jet Boat. I recently purchased it and upon putting it in the water we noticed that each time we would check there would be water in both the engine compartment and under the ski hatch of the boat. So we decided that we needed to run the bilge pump every few hours in order to clear it all out if we were to leave it sitting in the water. Well, tonight we discovered, after having it out all day long, that the bilge will no longer turn on and pump any water out. The light will come on but no noise will be made and no water will pump out. The water kept coming in the boat so we had to move our other boat off its lift in order to get this one out of the water for the night. CAN ANYONE HELP tell me how to tear the hose to the bilge apart or how to access it. We think something may have either gotten sucked up into the bilge or the bilge pump went out. ANYTHING YOU CAN HELP ME WITH WOULD BE GREAT! THANK YOU!

Re: Yamaha Exciter Water/Bilge Pump HELP!!!

I have one of these. You can get to the bilge pump from the engine compartment by removing the access cover in the middle of the compartment that faces the rear of the boat. The bilge pump is down and to the right of the access hole. If you have the boat out of the water, open the rear deck cover, and remove the cleanout plugs. Then remove the screws holding the tray in, and remove the tray. Lift the tray out by lifting up around the cleanout holes. There are no clamps on the top securing the tray, just the screws. The bilge pump can be found just behind the left engine cleanout port. I had an issue with crud getting stuck in the screen. The pump can easily be removed by pressing inward on the 2 latches, and lifting straight up. Hope this helps!
