Hi guys, my 01 f115 just burned up the water pump, melted rubber everywhere. It worked fine when I winterized it. Any thoughts what might have caused this? Also, what is the best way to clean out the system from all the debris. Will hooking a garden hose the the connector be sufficient or is there a more detailed way to do it?<br /> Thanks, Scott

Re: yamaha f115 water pump trouble

its very common when the motor is run without water to the pump. the engine was run without water to the lower unit water intakes. thats about the only cause. its also caused by running the motor with the hose attached to the engine flusher. so it did not "just burn up" it was run improperly and damaged. no good way to clean debris. with the gear case off you may try back flushing with the engine flush device. remove the lower unit intake screens and look for debris in the pocket below the pump as well. any signs of melt on the pump housing is cause for replacement.
