Broke the original and an aftermarket replacement last year, sent for warranty work and was given a different one by our dealer/fish buyer. different gearing, higher than original, lowered prop pitch to 19 and was kinda perfect. But overall speed is not there only RPM's. PowerTech 3-blade runs 57-5800 rpm and 50 mph. Turbo Ultima-4 runs 5100 @ 50mph, like this for general riding/cruising as fuel economy is excellent! Both are 19p, tried a 14.25x20p 3-blade Yamaha and only got 52-5300 RPM but would drop off with 1,000 lbs fish on board. I miss the original lower unit gearing where I ran a 22p 3-blade and was happy all around except the heaviest loads, 3,000 lbs+ where I'd run a 21p prop.
Different brand props have different slip and I am fond of the Turbo prop or similar round bladed design, more lift both rear and bow.
Oh yeah, with the 22p prop I'd hit 5500 rpm and 54 mph, I miss that!
