Yamaha 250TXRP engine 6 cyl.

I had it out the other day and as I was running it the oil alarm came on. I brought it right back in and saw the tank on the boat (not the engine) was low so I filled it up. I don't think I hurt anything but I was wondering if the engine could have went into some safe mode when an alarm comes on as it idles real low now and will stall if I put it in gear, sometimes I can keep it running if I give it fuel real quick. If there is a mode would I be able to reset it? If not it looks like I have a fuel issue by coincidence.

yes it will go into RPM reduction and limit top RPM to about 2000 RPM.
its self resetting as long as the alarm condition is gone and the engine speed is lowered below 1000 RPM.
look very close at the water around the exhaust,if you see fuel rainbows you have a bad low pressure pump.
its a typical symptom of a ruptured pump diaphram.
on the 3.1L motors I reccomend new pumps evey three years.
they eat them.

Ok thanks, I do see that on the water and found the problem is in the port mid cylinder (bottom one seemed a little week too). It has good spark and compression so it must be that fuel pump. Thanks again
