I am looking at buying a Yamaha 9.9HP 4 stroke with model number T9.9ELHQ. What do all the letters mean? Where can I find a source for this information? The guy says its a 90's motor but I thought Yamaha used the T in only 1979 and 2000. Help :(

Re: Yamaha model numbers

Wally-the ELHQ goes as follows: E=electric start...L=shaft length(20")...H=tiller handle...Q=year(1992)

"The guy says its a 90's motor but I thought Yamaha used the T in only 1979 and 2000."<br /><br />The "T" represents the "High Thrust" model. The High Thrust 9.9 4-stroke has been around since the early 80's. They remind me of a fine Swiss watch. ;)
