Re: Yamaha Oil Injection Problem

Thanks for your reply.....my motor is a V6EXCELXH Yamhha 2.6 ltr 1986. Oil is leaking out of the pump on the block. It has been doing this for a while and IM hoping the pump doesnt stop! I was once told, you needed to remove the shaft from the pump, as it would sieze with no oil. I would really prefer to mix! sorry all you Yami precision blend advocates! Appreciate ant advise or tips. Thanks!

Re: Yamaha Oil Injection Problem

If you remove the pump so you can premix, you must remove the shaft as well and block off the hole. The oil circuit was seperate from the computer and can be removed without affecting the computer. That model used the old pump with an o ring to seal. If it is original, you may can replace the o ring and cure it.

Re: Yamaha Oil Injection Problem

Ray & Rod,

I appreciate your replies. Rod, sorry the boat is an hour south of me, and the motor manual does not specify what pump type? I will check it out soon.
Ray, If this is that pump, how difficult would it be to change the O ring? Looking for the oil circuit in the computer sounds hard. My Nieghbor is a BMW bike mechanic, said he would help me but wants two payments of Fifty bucks and a case of Bud.
Wish you were closer so I could barter some Snap-on tools or fishing trips for this pump job!
Thanks Again for any advise tips.

Bass

A matter of two bolts being removed. They are a little difficult to get to. Removing the oil circuit is a matter of removing the parts and blocking the lines off. Not difficult at all. A manual will be a great help though.

Re: Yamaha Oil Injection Problem

Thanks Ray!

I will buy the service manual. Do you know of a specific version, that would be good for my 86 motor?(or, I can google it.) Also, Besides removing and and sealing the oil system/circuit, would I have to disable my oil alarms? Is this as easy as unhooking/cuting the wires?

If your up this way, I owe you a fishing trip!

Unplugging wires will do it. Best to get the actual one for your model.

Re: Yamaha Oil Injection Problem

if you must premix I advise removing the pump drive shaft and all the oil tanks. leave the pump and lines in place . good luck and keep posting
