Re: Yamaha or Suzuki/Johnson
Great input from all. I just returned from the waterfront. Talked with the Yamaha, Suzuki and Johnson folks. Johnson and Yamaha impressive from a warranty and service standpoint. The Yamaha tech said that Yamaha has been obsessed with the JD Powers rating the past couple of years and that they even are taking care of repairs out of warranty. I can have a Johnson 140 mounted and controlled for about $9400. The Yamaha 115 for about $8500 and the Yamaha 150 for about $11300 (ouch). I would be leaning to the 140 Johnson. I agree with Dan to an extent about how much power do you need but then again I hope that this boat will last until retirement in 10 years. I also think that for the extra $1000 I am getting a decent value in the 140 Johnson. Let me know what you all are thinking. I would like to hear from some of you concerning any dealings with the Johnson service and warranty attitude. As I am new to this, let me know if I should start a new message.
