Hello..Last summer my 25 hp yamaha 2 stroke flipped off the dock and into the lake..I pulled out the motor after 40 minutes and rushed over to the dealer..They flushed and lubricated the engine and ran for few hours..Ever since then I have had problems with when I try to go full throttle or 3/4 throttle after about 3 miles the engine starts to cut in and out and starts to slow down and vibrate..if I try to crank it up it just kind of puts and puts but hardly no speed..after I shut the engine off for an hour or so..The engine starts up ok for another few miles of speed and then does the same thing again..Is the problem you think the carburetor related or is it the ceramic (it controls the temp) since then I have taken to different shops but to no avail..fuel lines were cleaned.. Can you please advise me what to do..???

Thanks for your help
outdoors ;)

OUTDOORS,

It sounds as if you are dropping (losing the output of) a cylinder.

Carburetion usually will not act that way.

It sounds electrical. I'm not familiar enough with Yamahas to make a judgement. However if it were any other brand, I would say that you are losing the output of an ignition coil or the input (signal) to that coil.

Run the engine in a test tank and use a hair dryer to heat up various electrical components, particularly the coils. You might be able to duplicate the symptoms.
