I have a 2 stroke Yamaha 8hp Outboard Motor. When I try to run it - It starts right up with the choke out. I can push the choke in somewhat and it will still run but when I push the choke in all the way it stalls. What does this usually indicate? Does the carburetor need adjusting? Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like the jet's are blocked if you apply coke to get it to run

You have a fuel restriction. More than likely it's dirty carbs but could be other issues too. If you have a little water in your gas it will do the same thing. Undo your fuel line and pump some gas into a glass and see if it separates. If all looks good the break your carbs down and do a good cleaning. Good Luck!

When it runs better with the choke engaged then you're really just overcoming a lean fuel mixture by enrichening it. Most likely culprit causing lean fuel mixture would be dirty carb or other fuel restriction. Good Luck!
