1989 200 h.p. yamaha with only a click in the trim motor , the trim works intermittently less often than not. Can the top of the trim motor be opened with the possible intention to replace any parts, the trim motor sounds strong when it engages.
probably the relays are the problem, not sending the voltage to motor.
A volt meter will help find out if the pos and/or the neg is getting to motor leads to make it run
but the brushes could be a problem if relays are making connection like they should
Thankyou ,can the trim motor be rebuilt while boat is still in water via unbolting the top cap of trim motor, looking to extend season before boat comes out.
test to see if motor is the problem 1st, disconnecting motor leads from relay and then touching them to battery + and - , and then reversing the polarity will tell you if motor works in both directions.
I would think T&T motor is too close to water to remove while boat is in water
