Yamaha Project: Oil change first.

I have a yamaho 4.3 v6 1990 Smoker Craft. I am changing the oil and the fill cap says SAE 40. That seems pretty heavy. Can anybody confirm that is the correct weight? Can I use regular motor oil? Also, any idea where to find owners manuals and service manuals for this boat and motor?

You can get a Clymer manual off of eBay. Search Yamaha sterndrive and you'll see them.

40 wt is what Yamaha wants in that engine. No multi viscosity
