I just realized after searching through my garage for a couple of days looking for my manual that I remember loaning it out but don't remember ever getting it back. Would somebody be willing to please back me up on the torque specs for my project?

(1999 Yamaha F80) I'm looking torques for:

1 - Cylinder head bolt (torx 55) and exterior cylinder head bolts on stbd side
2 - Intake manifold
3 - Camshaft
4 - Cam pulley
5 - Valve cover
6 - Oil Pump
7 - Power head (lower cowl/power head)

I'm changing out the oil pump and head gasket. I noted my marks on the timing belt, flywheel, and cams but I could also use reassurance that is correct. I'd rather not do it all from memory. I will try to find someone locally with a manual but figured I'd ask here too.

Re: Yamaha Q-values

I borrowed a manual from a local shop here for the specs while I wait the next several weeks for my new manual to come in the mail.......

1 - Cylinder head bolt (torx 55) = 11ft/lb first, 22ft/lb second, 90 deg third (51ft/lb)
1.5 - exterior cylinder head bolts on stbd side = 10ft/lb first, 20ft/lb second
2 - Intake manifold
3 - Camshaft = 5.8ft/lb first, 12ft/lb second
4 - Cam pulley = 43ft/lb
5 - Valve cover = 5.8ft/lb
6 - Oil Pump 7.2ft/lb
7 - Power head = 30ft/lb

I put it all back together, turned the camshaft pulleys to line up the timing marks and noticed that one was harder to turn than the other. I took the valve cover back off to investigate before going further and found the starboard side camshaft (the one that was easier to turn) to be snapped just above the #2 cylinder lobes.

Vawy fwustwating......

Anyone ever see one of these camshafts snap? I'm glad that it happened now and I chose to investigate rather than having it come un-donkey'd while running. That would have been rough!

Can anyone tell me what to expect with putting in a new camshaft? Should I expect the replacement to be dimensionally compatible with the original retaining caps/bearings? It is a Ford part.......... so I don't expect a very close tolerance.

Re: Yamaha Q-values

Replaced with new cam shaft. I may have damaged the original by dropping it about five inches into a cardboard box at which point it sheared when I reinstalled it in the motor. The new shaft was exactly the same as the original. Bearing caps went back into specified positions, installed in correct order, and the engine runs great.
