Yamaha to Evinrude

Have a 24ft pontoon with a 40hp yamaha. Motor runs fine, just want more hp. Found a nice Evinrude 115 with controls, but it is a 25" shaft and the yamaha is a 20" shaft. Can the longer shaft motor work? I have a 98 Harris super sunliner boat.

If the boat should have a 20" leg, a 25" would be way too deep. Get the correct length.

Unless you can raise the transom 5". Also is the boat rated for that much power?
