Re: Yamaha V-Star

Have not heard anything bad about them. I think IMO Yamaha is a good bike and I actually rate it above a Kawasaki in my book.

I have a 2006 and I love it. The only gripe I think people have is the exhaust pipe has to come off to change the oil. I have the 1100 Silverado, came with the bags and windshield.

Nice bikes. My neighbor and his son both have one. They usually come with nice footboards too. Have you priced footboards? Wow. I didn't know about the oil change thing. Man, that's crazy. I think the Silverado has the nicest looking soft bags available bar none.

There is a kit you can buy for about 200.00 to relocate it, but I just have it done, costs about $60.00 here. Unfortunately, I don't know if that issue is associated with the 2001.

Re: Yamaha V-Star

Thanks guys.
I have an old '83 30' motorhome that has set for about 2 years now and had it for sale for 5500 and this guy comes by on this bike and offers me 2500 and the bike for the MH and was wanting info on the bike.
I will take it Monday and will get some pics loaded up.
Again, thanks for the replies.

The pros are it will be a lot of fun to ride and present very few maintenance issues. The con is that people sometimes won't see you and run you over...

Hehehe...loud pipes save lives!
If they don't see ya, they should at least hear ya!

Sorry, I don't have any info to add on the V-Star. Not many in my town, but we don't have a local Yama-hopper dealer either.

Am inpressed with the Vstar.
Lots of power and rides good.
No issues with them knowing I'm there.:D
Nice exhaust system.
This guy was the 2nd. owner.
No floorboards, but Saddlebags and lots of chrome.

Nice bike. I have those same grips on my Shadow. They're a huge improvement over stock and look nice too. There's tons of after market accessories available for those bikes too if you're into all that.

That's a nice looking ride. You can always get footboards later if you really wanted them. I bet it growls too!

Re: Yamaha V-Star

I own a 2002 v-star 1100 custom. I bought it in 02 with 400 miles on it. I've added many, many toys to it. I have been on trips that covered 3000 miles at a shot with it and it never missed a beat. A new seat ( mustang seat ) will make a difference if you get it. The stock seat is too hard after a long ride. Adding forward controls and a big windshield will make a huge difference also if you want to make long trips.
You will be very impressed with bikes, they are very dependable and have all the power you need. IMHO
