Yamaha V6 P175 1994 impeller hard to get off

I am changing out water pump and bought a kit, problem is I don't know how to remove the old impeller. This has a metal collar on the shaft that doesn't unscrew and won't budge. Is there a tool or procedure to remove it? I have watched several you tube videos but the v6 motors they are working on don't have this, they simply pry the old one off and slide the new on on?? Please advise,

You'll probably have to destroy that metal collar to get it off....then replace it with a new one and new wave washers....that's about normal/ standard procedure anyway....

yes you can get them at any yamaha dealer,usually come with the impeller it if you get the kit.

When you install the collar and washers, lift up on the driveshaft while tapping the collar down....their purpose is to remove up and down movement of driveshaft at certain RPM's, causing a knocking sound....which in itself is not a real problem, but not fun to listen to....

as you already should have figured out they do not come the Yamaha water pump kit.
after market is anyones guess

Any yamaha dealer can get them or order online

OK, Thanks for the help. I went to a dealer and got the collar and spacer. They said to heat the old one with a torch and it will come right off which I did. How important are the two thin washers because after putting everything back and bolted on I found them?? Completely forgot to put them back on. Boat runs great and good water pressure. Might have to tear it down as I had some emulsion in the Lower gear oil and I'll check it again to see if I might need new seals. Thanks Again.

did you not read what Robert wrote about the washers?
