Is there a standard water Pressure for Yamaha outboards?

Say at 3000 rpm pressure should it be with a certain range?

I had my water pump replaced and the pressure has dropped substantially.
I had it done on recommendation of replacing after 3 seasons, not sure if it was the right move now.
Was 15 psi @ 3000 rpm before & now only 5 or 7 psi at 3000 psi, just backs up the old saying-
“if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

The engine is a 2000 150 hp.

Re: Yamaha Water Pressure

Did they use a factory Yamaha Impeller? We will not use aftermarket impeller in Yamaha's. If they used a Sierra they will not make as much pressure as an OEM impeller.

For what it's worth, if you go to the teleflex website and do some looking around, there's a chart of water pressures for various outboards. It's related to their instructions/guidelines for their water pressure gauges. I found it accurate for my Johnson V6, so I would guess it would give you an idea what your Yammie should be pumping.

PS: also, since it sounds like you had someone do this work for you, I'd have them explain the difference to you and replace or re-do it if you're not happy.

hello
I would also have a look at the pressure relief assy as well as the t-stats. a problem with any of those will reduce water pressure. you also dont say if it was a cut rate shop, a rustybolt bob and a can of crylon shop or an aurthorized yamaha facility using yamaha parts.
good luck and keep posting
