It's there way of verifying water flow through the engine for cooling, sea=doos have it too, but theirs just goes straight out the back and not up in a rooster tail like the yamaha

I thought it was to aid in targetting them with your 1oz sinker since it makes them easier to spot ;)

BL...

Am I the only baoter and jet skier out here???? I feel SO lonley...
Actually the water stream is a target aid (hehehe Just joking). It is to aid boaters (swimmers, other jet skiers) see you when out in front of them. It was supose to become an industry standard but didn't.. Yamaha (and seadoo kinda) kept it on their crafts.

Seaboo,

It has NOTHING to do with the engine-not connected in any way. It's a visibility thing.

It's for spraying people on the dock! :D

Just so you know skippers minnow hit the nail on the head their called tell ports they let you know that the engine is receiving water from the jet drive on the yamaha with the throttle opened up it should shoot about ten feet in the air. On the sea doo it should shoot about two to three feet straight ou the back below the tow loop. with a little ingenouity and some rubber hose you can get the yamaha to shoot back and down

It's for visibility by other boaters/jetskiers. These usually get broken off after a few deep water remounts.

Later ... Water

Re: Yamaha wave runner water stream out of rear

that water spray from the yamaha has nothing to do with engine. the engine propulse water out of the round gadget or jet(sorry, I don't know what it is called) and on top of that round funnel -- yamaha drilled a 1/2 inch hole and then connect a hose to it and aimed it up. so when you squeeze the throttle. water jets out of the rear and the water jets out of that 1/2 hole and in the air. ---------- I use it to wet my wife. NO-- you are not the only boater - jet ski owner. We're here, but we're silent this forum is Iobat not Iboatandskis.com -- i think they need to start one though. anyone out there, let me know if you know of any.
