Any ideas on the year of manufacture, and specifications for the motor? <br /><br />Yamaha 20 AE 653 590513

Closest I can come is a (653) 1972-1978 P-400/20A (20HK). Others will know for sure..

Same comment as on your previous 28AE question. Non-US yamaha models are not covered well in the internet code charts and I guess that four to six years range isn’t any close to what you would expect. Call yamaha in England or any good European yamaha dealer. Non-US codification was also used in Australia and New Zealand as far as I understand, so you may want to try there.

Hi,<br />The Year for European market Yamaha outboard is determined by the letter in LOWER right or left corner on the metal plate where the engine number etc is.<br /><br />Your outboard is probably from 1972 - 1978 but exact year is should be determined by the letter in lower right or left corner.<br /><br />(1972 and earlier - I do not know)<br />1973 - Z<br />1974 - Y<br />1975 - X<br />1976 - W<br />1977 - V<br />1978 - U<br />1979 - T<br />1980 - S<br />1981 - R<br />1982 - Q<br />1983 - P<br />1984 - N<br />1985 - K<br />1986 - J<br />1987 - H<br />1988 - G<br />1989 - F<br />1990 - D<br />1991 - C<br />1992 - B<br />1993 - A<br />1994 - Z<br />1995 - Y<br />1996 - X<br />1997 - W<br />1998 - V<br />1999 - U<br />2000 - T<br />2001 - S<br />2002 - R<br />2003 - Q<br />(2004 - I do not know, probably P)<br /><br />I have a Yamaha F115 4-stroke 2003 myself and sure it has a Q letter on the metal plate (I live in Sweden).

Hi Bo, I have just checked my plate and you are right, there is a letter over there! In my case it is hardly visible comparing to model number digits. So, that’s new important information, thanks. Marinshopen.se explains it, but that is not easy to capture if you don’t speak Swedish
