Yami 225 stroke to yami 225 4 stroke rigging?

Hey guys , happy new year! Well just purchased a 2003 F255 w/ 400 hrs on it.
I am going to be rigging it my self and was wondering what is needed to go from my 2 stroker to 4 stroker as far as controls, guages, wire harness?
I currently have single control, no PS, and a digital combo gauge.

depends on the year of the tach
look at the back of the tach, if there is a rubber plug remove it. if there are 2 dip switches the tach wont work with a 4 stroke, if there are 3 do a forum search looking for some of rodbolt?s posts on tach dip switch settings.
your 10 pin main harness will work ok.
if your 4 pin trim harness has square connector ends it will work ok.
your tach will have to be set for 4 stroke,12 pole alt and 2 wire trim sender.

would help to have the model number of the old 225 as they were made for a few years.

Thanks so much! Thats good to know some things may work. the motor is a 98 EFI sws 225. have to get the model#.
The gauge is a combo unit with Rpm, yellow , green, red oil tank level.
How about the control unit, are the throttle and shift cables the same?

your digital tach wont work, the trim harness will.
the control box and cables stay the same.
tach has to be 2001 and up as in 01 all yamaha engines had a two wire trim sender and the 98 had a 3 wire.
the 98 tach had no provision to select 2 or 3 wire or 2 or 4 stroke.
so the RPM counter would work but none of the visual indicates or trim bars will.
if the tach was replaced it may work.
thats why I said to look on the back for a rubber cap,remove the cap and see how many dip switches are beneath it. if there are 3 it will work. 2 or none it wont work.

I just checked my digital RPM tilt gauge and there are no dip switchs just a black rotory switch that has a screwdriver slot that can be set for 4,6,8,12, it's set to 12? will this work?

the tach function will but nothing else, the alarm visuals will blink at you and the trim guage wont work.
best to go ahead and update the tach.

Thanks, yes I am going to get the Multi F tach gauge. Will the new MF gauge just plugin to my old wire harness?

one version will the -30 I think. the lastest tach will require an adapter.
look for the 03 rigging guide and hope someone has a new tach from the 01-05 or so years.
the 06-07 rigging guide will show details as will the 06-07 marine tech guide.
the adapter is like 30 bucks and you can use your current trim and alarm harrness.
if you can find the digital tach from the 01-05 models,like I say I think its the -30, it will plug up directly just check the dip switch settings.

I was thinking of just getting this, will this work? I do not mind running new harness for tach and trim
