Hello Everyone. I have 2004 F150 twins 4strokes on my 25' Parker. The port motor at low Rpms, say 1500 rps,the belt sqeeks. Its quite annoying when trolling.Took it in to the dealer for its 100 hour service. He started hinting around that some of these motors do this. Does that sound right? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Todd Zernick

I have the same motor and often operate it at low RPM's while trolling. I've never had problems as you are indicating. Have you tried spraying on some belt dressing? About $3 at nearly any auto parts store.

Let me know how things turn out

Kevin

sounds like the driveshaft bushing.
sometimes noises telegraph through
the drive train and appear somewhere else.
its as simple as removing the gearbox and lubing this area.

That supports a portion of the driveshaft just below the splines. Seems to be more annoyance than problematic. Since these motors run so quiet, the slightest noise is noticable. On the old 2-strokes you'd never be able to hear it (they don't have that bushing, but you get my point). Greasing that area helps for awhile, but invariably the noise comes back. I think it's more of a harmonic nature than a wear issue.

Next time you run it, listen to various areas thru a few feet of hose. Obviously you'll want to be careful around moving parts. That method can pinpoint the noise fairly accurately. It looks silly, but it works.
