Ok got a deal on a new prop only it came off a yammi I think and mines a merc. Prop fits fine question is do I need to re hub or can I drill a hole in the prop shaft andjust put a cotter pin on to lock the nut? Also do I need a washer between the hub nut and prop?? Motors a 1991 115 merc, props are both 13.25x17...old ones a quicksilver alum, new ones a SS Turbo both 3 blade...

Re: Yammi prop on a merc??

The props are interchangeable on many models of Merc and Yammie, but check the thrust washers as they may have different specs. If you don't have the specs, carefully check all clearances with your old prop mounted, then check same clearances with the new prop mounted, specifically the area/space between the hub and lower unit. Also, the prop should have no fore/aft slop when tugging on it.

Ayuh,... Use the Merc lockin' tab, ny-lock nut, 'n washer set up...

Whatever ya do, Don't drill the propshaft for a cotter key...
