Did any of you good people ever go on a daytrip out of Gloucester with this wide wooden party boat?
If so,what is a better place for fishing ,the stern or the bow?

Re: Yankee Patriot

Stern is 99% the place to be!!!
If they anchor they always go up current and anchor back. But fish have tails!!!
Fishing has been on the slow side lately!!!
They get 1.50 for 16oz. sinkers if you lose any !!
May want to check the price at the tackle shop that is on the premises!!!
Get there early in morning and take a piece of string or rag and tie your rod where you want to fish from!!!

If looking for an excellent meal after trip go across the street to restaurant. Best place in town. If you want an alcoholic beverage with your meal, there is a store next door!!!!

Nope they do not chum from the stern!!!!
They don't chum at all!!!

When you go on this type of charter only 10% of the people catch fish!!!

If fish are not biting nobody catches!!!!

Some days they will exceed there percentage!!!

In most cases you are better off getting six people and chartering a boat for the 700-800for the day!!!

Do what you think is best!!!

Rolmops: 16oz sinkers at the tackle shop are $1.25
On the boat you get the first one free. 2nd is 1.50 your better off waiting till you lose the first one and then spend the extra .25 if you have to!!!

What are they chasing cod, haddock, pollack and wolffish? I could see why they wouldn't chum, it would just bring the dogfish around. And it's a long way down to those groundfish

:) The dogs Are coming!!!!
They are suppose to be endangered!! But yet they are all over the place!!!! They do everything but jump in the boat!!!!

The yankee fleet goes fishing for cod and haddock!!
You can keep all the haddock that you can catch over 21" That is going to change to 19" soon!!!
Cod has to be 23" and you can only have 10 in possesion per day!!!!

Fishing for cod and haddock hasn't been all that great!!! Water temps to cold!!! Plus weather hasn't been cooperating!!!

Re: Yankee Patriot

Well it was swell
I am happy to count myself amongst the 10% that did catch.18 cod(5 keepers and one 9 pounds),2 haddock and a wolf fish(nasty teeth).
Talk about being lucky,on Friday the Patriot left the dock to return half an hour later because of heavy seas. Saturday, when I went, there was no wind and barely a cloud in the sky.the seas were only about 6 feet.It was a blast!!
Flyrod, thank you for your advice,it made a big difference.
How about a chartering the patriot with a boatload of Iboaters??

:) Your welcome!!!! :)
Glad that ya had "FUN"!!! ;) and enjoyed the trip!!!!

that's a slow day!!!!

the weather hasn't been that good around here!!!

you had about the best day of the week!!!

Forgot to tell ya to bring a heavey coat !!It is basically cold out there!!!

Did ya get a chance to eat across the street????

chartering the boat would be a possibility, but we could charter the one my buddy operates. not saying that we would catch more but your chances of bigger and more fish is greater!!!

He had a 5:30am charter
Tried to get you on it but it was a private charter and they wouldn't take an extra!!!
