Yanks might buy parts cheaper in Australia?

Doesn't make sense, but I was costing pistons and rings for an old OMC and the price from my local parts supplier in Oz dollars was $720 against prices close to US$1,000 on some US websites I found. I thought they'd be cheaper in their country of origin.

Maybe I was looking at the wrong US suppliers, and maybe the parts aren't from the same source so I wasn't comparing apples with apples, but if you're after high price items it might be worth checking out Oz sources.

Even if they're the same dollar price, current exchange rates favour US residents greatly. AU$100 is only about US$67.

Tinkman, you bloaks get everything cheaper..... We have debated this issue several times before. Personally, I want to buy quality parts as cheep as I can. We have heard several reasons why the same parts in the US are more expensive than in other countries. The Motors do vary a bit but are still cheaper in the "Down Under". I have a buddy with some rental boats and he buys all of his outboards there(Honda 4 stroke, big tiller handle motors)at a much reduced price.
