No problem. Glad to help when and Where I can. This should help explain about the bobbin.

This video should give more explanation about loading the bobbin and getting the thread loaded.

Re: Yard sale Sewing Machine.

Got..er cleaned up a bit and tried it out.

Had a Suzzie home maker meeting last night..( Mama's 81st birthday) ...After the party i got Mama and my sister-in-law to show me how to set it up and to sew..
Wow they wip the thread in there and was sewing in a matter of minutes.

So after my lesson i gave it a try.....not so bad....even sewed an old tee shirt together. Lotsa practice and i think i can do it!
Sooo.... next step get some vinyl and give it a try.......

Thanks again WOG for the video/info.

Will start a new thread this fall/winter with reupholster of the Checkmate!

My View;

I have lots of interests and hobbies; built my own house, made a wood boat, restoring a fiberglass boat here....on and on; The best of all of them is upholstery / making things with fabric.

Its quiet (you can listen to tunes, watch TV, or socialize), there is no dust, there are no chemicals, things go together fast, look amazing with minor effort. Its also inexpensive to get set up.

Enjoy

Ditto chconger. I don't know why so many guys shy away from it. Once you get used to vinyl, try some leather. That can really be rewarding.

Re: Yard sale Sewing Machine.

I just started re-upholstering my boat. Started with the coamings which did not require any sewing. Now I am into the bolsters, dog house and seats. Sewing required. Dug out the old yard sale find Kenmore and have been practicing. Picked up some cheap utility vinyl at Joann fabrics to practice with. My first semi flat felled seam didn't come out too bad.

Now I just need to practice, practice, practice.
