strapping would be a pain to reuse since it's knotted to the boat and trailer in a dozen places but we're talking about $10 ish....

the REAL savings would be in reusing the wrap..... as long as your support structure stays the same you can likely get 3-5 years out of the plastic

I had my 23 foot Century wrapped in this fashion and was able to save the shrink wrap too, I reused it for 3 more years. I just told the guys doing it, to wrap it with this thought in mind, my cord/strap was just below the rub rail, and that allowed me to untie the knot in the stern area. I added about 5 feet of cord to the ends in the stern area, allowing me to untie and then reuse the next year. Carpet roll tubes worked great for supporting the plastic wrap. Beats paying every year for new shribk wrap, and I gave it to the new owner when I sold it.

I had a pro do the shrink wrap last winter. On top of the 2X4 stand, they fitted a sort of mushroom-like cap made of plastic. Now it is on the same stand, holding up the new trailerable cover. I put a shipping blanket over the windshield for padding, to keep from putting too much stress on the cover when it gets tightened up by snow.

I made a snap on boat cover myself. I bought the Sunbrella stuff off of ebay for about $120 and another $40 in snap hardware. Now I just snap the cover over the cockipt and use the boat hook to "tent" it up. Works great. If you have a sewing machine it will take a Saturday afternoon .
