Mary ,Post hp of motor ,if known ,and what numbers you do have and someone will assist. The model number is usually required.Look on motors transom bracket and also on engine blocks silver welsh plug for additional numbers.
That is not a Johnson model number.
...and your from what you wrote in your profile.
If it isn't a joke and you have a model number you'll find the year here:
http://www.marinshopen.se/guide/guide.htm

If you find the model number (not the serial number) and still can't find out the year, post it here and someone will tell you.

If you don't have a model number, describe the colour and propeller; number of blades, exhaust thru prop or above the prop. Can you post a picture of it?
No not really. I just want to make sure it is a 6 hp Johnson. I think you narrowed it down a bit.

So you can't find the model number? It should be where you found the serial number. Also look under the cowling, on the powerhead, for a quarter sized aluminium plug for the model number.
Possible model numbers:
1965 CD-CDL-22
1966 CD-CDL-23
1967 CD-CDL-24
1968 CD-CDL-25
1969 6R69-6RL69
1970 6R70-6RL70
1971 6R71-6RL71
1972 6R72-6RL72
1973 6R73-6RL73
and so on...
The "L" is for long shaft. You'll se either
like CD-25 or CDL-25, 6R69 or 6RL69 and so on.
I have a 1965 short shaft, CD-22.

I hope you find the number
