Re: Year of my Fisherman 6pk?

Thenks guys, Unbelievable how fast your reaction speed is.

Is there also a manual availabele how to operatate this engine. THere is a button to ajust the slow speed ( doesn't notica anything happening when I turn this button), and a slow, start, shift and fast mark on the gaslever. When set to slow the engine stops. At slow speed it doesn't sound very smooth, looks like one spark plug is not working. Any suggestions how to adjust this?

thanks, Rob

Joe reeves explains about the low speed mixture control here. Ignore the part about the high speed adjustment - you don't have one.

Check your spark and make sure each cylinder's ignition can jump a 1cm gap. Not every time, just capable of doing it. Fixing a spark problem is pretty inexpensive and easy on these outboards, but you need a service manual for all the bolt torques and adjustments.

Reprints of the owners manual are available from Ken Cook Co, as are reprints of the OEM service manuals:
TheOutboardWizard
Mastertech
Marine Engine
Ken Cook
You can also get aftermaket service manuals from Iboats. Sometimes you can find a service manual at your local library. Also, you can somtimes find used OEM manuals on ebay for a fraction of the price of a reprint.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, and this button on the outside of the engine, between the choke and startercable, that says low speed mixture, is that to adjust, because I don't notice any diffence when I change this setting. Or do I have to remove the button and turn it until I notice something. With the button on it can be turned about 1 full scale. Without button it can be turned many times.

Rob

Re: Year of my Fisherman 6pk?

It's used to adjust the idle fuel to air mixture. To set it properly, follow Joe Reeve's advice on the link I posted above. Once set properly, there is no need to change it. That's why they stopped putting the button on later engines.

If it does not seem to set properly, or affect anything, the idle fuel circuit passages of the carburetor may be clogged. They are very small and susceptable to clogging. To clean, the carburetor must be disassembled, soaked in carburetor cleaning solution, and it's passages blown out with compressed air. Then reassembled with a new carburetor kit (includes gaskets, needle and seat, etc).

I hope this helps!
